SLF supports local organizations by opening doors to funding opportunities and empowering them to deliver initiatives that strengthen our community. We accept grants and donations on their behalf, with tax receipts issued directly to donors.
Recents Grants
Fernwood Community Centre – Transgender Youth Arts Drop-in
Through the Golden Jubilee Endowment Fund, $1,000 was provided to support the Transgender Youth Arts Drop-in at Fernwood Community Centre. This free, arts-based program offers a safe, inclusive space for transgender and 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies to connect, create, and express themselves through activities like zine-making and pride banner creation.
Queer and Trans Farmers' Market at Oaklands Community Association
Through the Golden Jubilee Endowment Fund, we provided $250 to support queer and transgender youth engagement at the Oaklands Community Market. This summer initiative creates a safe, welcoming space for 2SLGBTQ+ youth to connect, showcase their talents, and participate in community events—fostering inclusion, visibility, and celebration of diversity.
Soap for Hope - Hygiene supplies for the underprivileged
We are proud to support Soap for Hope with a $2,000 grant. Serving over 500 facilities across BC and Alberta, they provide essential hygiene items to those in need. From repurposed soaps to complete kits, their work restores dignity, promotes health, and strengthens communities.

We are proud to support Soap for Hope with a $2,000 grant. Serving over 500 facilities across BC and Alberta, they provide essential hygiene items to those in need. From repurposed soaps to complete kits, their work restores dignity, promotes health, and strengthens communities.
Lohbrunner Park Project
In 2024, thanks to a bequest from Joan Stewart, we supported major restoration work in Lohbrunner Park. Invasive plants were removed and replaced with native species, two interpretive signs were installed, and future phases are planned—honouring Joan’s legacy and enhancing biodiversity, ecological health, and cultural connections in the park.
Vancouver Island Therapeutic Riding Association
In 2024, we proudly supported the Vancouver Island Therapeutic Riding Association with a $3,000 donation to welcome Socrates, a new therapy horse. Calm, responsive, and expertly trained, Socrates enhances equine-assisted therapy for individuals with diverse challenges, building strength, confidence, and connection continuing.
Music in the Park – Summer Concert Series
We are proud to have supported Music in the Park for sixteen years—a free summer concert series held in eight Saanich parks. Featuring diverse musical styles and local talent, these events bring residents together, strengthen community bonds, support the arts, and celebrate culture, inclusion, and the shared joy of live music.
reCREATE Community Grant
The Saanich Legacy Foundation proudly donates to the reCREATE Community Grant, which supports adults aged 60+ in Saanich by providing access to local recreation opportunities. By reducing financial barriers, reCREATE helps low-income seniors stay active, socially connected, and engaged in lifelong learning—promoting health, inclusion, and community connection.

Working alongside the Cridge Centre for Families and other shelters to ensure no one falls through the cracks, with support from the Saanich Legacy Foundation, government, and private donors to bring hope and holiday joy to those most in need.
