Prospect Lake Preservation Society

We are proud to support the Prospect Lake Preservation Society (PLPS) in their ongoing efforts to protect and preserve one of Saanich’s most cherished natural spaces.
The Prospect Lake Preservation Society is a registered not-for-profit organization under the British Columbia Societies Act. Established to protect the public interest and ensure a long-term community presence, PLPS works transparently and collaboratively to fulfill its mission over many generations.
Protecting the Health of Prospect Lake
The mission of PLPS is to protect the long-term health and recreational quality of Prospect Lake, ensuring that both residents and the public can enjoy its natural beauty in perpetuity.
Prospect Lake holds a unique place in the Saanich community. It is the last major lake in the region to avoid regular health warnings and closures caused by toxic cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). This rare status is the result of vigilant monitoring, research, and community stewardship—efforts that require continued support to succeed.
Your donation helps fund essential initiatives including:
  • Scientific studies and monitoring of lake health
  • Conservation and environmental protection programs
  • Community education and engagement initiatives
  • Long-term strategies to ensure the lake remains safe and accessible for future generations
By donating through the Saanich Legacy Foundation, your gift goes directly toward supporting these critical efforts. Together, we can help preserve this invaluable natural resource for decades to come.
