Soap for Hope

Soap for Hope is one of the many impactful programs funded through the Saanich Legacy Foundation. Their mission is simple but powerful: to change lives by providing hope and dignity through hygiene.
What began in 2015 with a question—“What do you do for hygiene products?”—has grown into a movement. Many community facilities across Victoria reported they had no budget or consistent access to essential hygiene supplies. Today, Soap for Hope supports over 500 community facilities across British Columbia and Alberta, including shelters, transitional homes, outreach programs, food banks, schools, senior housing, and emergency response centres.
Their work began with repurposed hotel-size soaps and shampoos. It has since expanded into full hygiene kits that include toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, menstrual products, and more—items often out of reach for those in crisis.
500 Community Facilities Served Since 2015. Fighting Hygiene Poverty Together A bar of soap. A clean towel. A warm blanket. These basic items—often taken for granted—can transform lives for those facing financial insecurity and the rising cost of living. With so many individuals forced to choose between rent, food, and personal care, Soap for Hope fills a critical gap by delivering dignity in the form of hygiene.
