Victoria Theraputic Riding Association

Funded in part by the Saanich Legacy Foundation
In 2024, thanks to a generous donation through the Saanich Legacy Foundation, the Vancouver Therapeutic Riding Association (VTRA) welcomed a new therapy horse named Socrates to its rogram.Socrates plays a key role in VTRA’s mission to provide equine-assisted therapy for children and adults living with physical, cognitive, emotional, and developmental challenges. Calm, responsive, and well-suited for adaptive riding, Socrates helps increase the organization’s capacity to serve a growing number of clients each week.
Now fully integrated into the program, Socrates supports therapeutic sessions that offer both physical benefits and meaningful emotional connection. Under the care of experienced staff and volunteers, Socrates has undergone specialized training to meet VTRA’s high standards and is already making a positive impact in the lives of participants.
