The Paul McKivett Memorial Fund
Paul was a founding member of the Saanich Legacy Foundation (SLF) and served as President for many years. He passed away in November 2024 and the Foundation unanimously agreed to honour his memory by renaming its endowment fund to the Paul
McKivett Memorial Fund.
Paul was a kind, generous, honourable and thoughtful person, always ready to help his family, friends and community in many ways. While working for the Municipality of Saanich for over 30 years, he volunteered for the MS Society and the United Way as well as the SLF. If you wanted something done, needed help or advice – Paul was the person you asked.
The Paul McKivett Memorial Fund will continue to operate as an endowment fund. An endowment fund is a pool of financial assets with the goal of generating investment income to support an organization’s mission over the long term. The principle is invested (through the Victoria Foundation) in a
diversified portfolio to
generate annual interest returns.
The SLF uses the interest to support causes and grassroots projects that enhance the community’s well-being and benefit the wider community, supporting non-profits doing charitable work. The funds could also be used to establish scholarships.
If Paul touched your life and you would like to honour his memory by donating to the Memorial Fund, please take a few minutes to review our website at www.saanichlegacy.ca to learn about the projects we currently support.
You can direct your donation to a specific project or to general funds. If you would like to
explore a new initiative, such as a scholarship, please contact the SLF Board and we can talk about your ideas. info@saanichlegacy.ca
