The Saanich Legacy Foundation (SLF) is a community foundation dedicated to strengthening the Saanich community by supporting grassroots organizations, local events, and projects that help make Saanich vibrant and caring. It is led by a volunteer Board and has been operating since 1999.
SLF supports the community in two main ways:
- Partnering with community groups and initiatives to process donations and provide support.
- Offering grants to local organizations and projects that deliver positive impact in Saanich.
SLF focuses on initiatives that strengthen connections, enhance local culture and services, and improve quality of life in Saanich. Examples of past support include arts programs, community events, youth engagement initiatives, ecological restoration projects, and more.
To apply for funding, visit the Grants → Apply page on our website where you’ll find eligibility details and instructions on how to submit your proposal.
You can donate in several ways:
- Online: Use our secure donation form (e.g., through Zeffy).
- By Mail: Send a cheque or money order to the Foundation’s mailing address.
Donations can be made in memory or celebration of someone. All donations over $20 receive a tax receipt.

Yes! When you donate, you can choose to direct your gift to a specific area of interest, a named fund, or leave it undesignated so it supports the greatest need in the community.
Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a Canadian tax receipt. Receipts are generally issued in the name of the donor after the transaction is completed.
