Take Heart
Take Heart is a supervised community exercise program for people living with cardiac or chronic conditions. Designed and led by qualified staff, the programme supports those recovering from a heart event and individuals with risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, overweight, a history of smoking, stress, depression, or lung/kidney disease. The goal is safe, progressive exercise that improves strength, confidence, and quality of life.
How it works: Participants require a referral or approval from their family doctor before joining. Sessions are offered at multiple sites for accessibility and continuity of care, including Saanich Commonwealth Place, the YMCA–YWCA, and Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Partnering with the Saanich Legacy Foundation: Donations to the Take Heart Programme are processed through the Saanich Legacy Foundation. Tax receipts are issued to donors, and funds are directed to purchasing and maintaining essential equipment—expanding capacity and keeping the programme affordable and effective for local residents.
Make a difference: Your gift helps more participants access safe, supervised exercise and the equipment they need to succeed.
