Maxine Davis Christmas Care Project
The Maxine Davis Christmas Care Project provides financial assistance during the holiday season for families and single females who have left abusive situations.
Maxine Davis Christmas Care Project managed by Trevor Davis and in its 17th year of operation, is a second-stage programme for women, both with and without children, who have been impacted by a violent or abusive individual, funded by the provincial government and private donors.
The Saanich Legacy Foundation assisted with the fundraising efforts in 2020 and it was the programme's most successful year to date. Christmas hampers, toys, gift cards are just some of the items Dovetail provides to bring Christmas joy to those in desperate need.
Although he works hand in hand with the Cridge Centre for Families, not every family he helps is registered at the Cridge Centre. Some are from women's shelters for example. Although there are many worthwhile and dedicated charity organizations that help those in need, some people fall through the cracks. Perhaps they are emotionally not in a position to make an official application before the deadline dates. This is where Maxine Davis Christmas Care Project steps in to help. Part of the process ensures that services are not duplicated and a family only receives one hamper.
The last two years have been particularly difficult for many low-income families due to the impact of COVID-19 and the need to help is greater than ever. Can you help?
