In July 2017, in response to the real need for support for the communities dramatically impacted by the BC forest fires, the SLF was delighted to hear from the members of our local taxi companies. Our special thanks go to Yellow Cab of Victoria Ltd., Victoria Taxi (1987) Ltd., and Blue Bird Cabs for their generous combined donation of $5,000.

From contact with Mayor Walt Cobb of Williams Lake and Mayor Lyn Hall of Prince George,  we came to understand that the SPCA in both communities helped residents deal with the dramatic harms done to local pets and livestock. Many evacuees from Williams lake were supported in Prince George - such that these two communities were closely connected in dealing together with the fire devastation.

Channeled through the SLF, these funds were split into two equal amounts going to support the volunteer work of the SPCA. We also understand that many members of the taxi associations and the associations themselves have also sent funds directly to these and other communities.
