The Lambrick Park Beach Volleyball Courts project involves the creation of a four-court beach volleyball facility at Lambrick Park High School, near the Gordon Head Recreation Centre and adjacent to Lambrick Park. The facility design will satisfy program requirements of the physical education department at Lambrick Park High School, and outside of school hours, it will offer an added recreational opportunity for the Saanich community.

Lambrick Park Beach Volleyball Courts

Saanich champion Jamie Broder

Saanich raised Jamie Broder took a big step closer to the Olympics on Sunday winning her, and Canada's, first FIVB World beach tour gold medal with teammate Kristina Valjas in Fuzhou, China. Read the article here.

Hundreds of youth and adults in our community participate in all levels of recreational volleyball, whether played indoor or outdoor on the beach court. To add, Vancouver Island has produced high profile Canadian Olympic athletes in the sport of beach volleyball, such as Martin Reader and Jamie Broder. Sadly, the Capital Region as a whole has very limited access to high quality public beach volleyball courts. Summer volleyball leagues play on grass, and limited local opportunity exists for emerging and aspiring athletes to train on good quality sand courts, despite strong interest. In fact, the Saanich community will lose access to the only local, quality beach courts when UVic closes the Ian Stewart Complex in the near future. The Lambrick Park Beach Volleyball Courts will be an exciting community amenity that is both timely and well placed geographically. We hope you will financially support this endeavor!
